East York Civic Centre Improvements

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the proposed landscaping plans. You can find a rendering of the final design here. EY Civic Centre Commons rendering

A new natural gas generator is also being installed at the East
York Civic Centre so it can operate as an emergency
centre even when there is a power outage. The Civic
Centre was closed during the 2013 Ice Storm due to an
extended power outage.

A crane will be on-site in mid-December 2015 as part of the installation process.  The project is expected to be completed September 30, 2016. However, City staff advise the area for the Farmers Market will be completed by May 17th.

East York Civic Centre Landscape Improvements – Public Consultation

Many residents have raised concerns about the safety on some of the pathways at the East York Civic Centre. The Royal Canadian Legion and the East York Farmers Markets also are seeking some improvements to the space.

Councillor Fragedakis asked City staff to review the safety concerns and other requests in order to develop some proposals for the public to consider.

You can view the presentation on those proposals here.

Click here for a close up on the Cenotaph comparing the 2 options and for a view from further back click here.

You can then email councillor_fragedakis@toronto.ca to let Councillor Fragedakis and City staff know:

– whether you prefer option 1 or option 2

– if you chose option 1, what you think should be included from option 2

– if you chose option 2, what you think should be included from option 1

– any other feedback on the project
