Broadview Station – Utility Inspection Survey
Saturday, July 19, 2014
7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
As part of its pavement rehabilitation program, the TTC is conducting a condition assessment of the utilities including sanitary and sewer main systems beneath the streetcar and bus transfer/loop roadway at Broadview Station. Activities will be conducted from within the transfer/loop area and on Erindale Avenue on Saturday, July 19 from 7a.m. to 7p.m.
The assessment entails flushing and cleaning any debris and residue from the sanitary and sewer mains followed by a video camera inspection of the underground system, as well as surveying the location and depth of the utilities.
The TTC has contracted the use of a high-pressure water system and a high-pressure vacuum system to carry out the flushing and cleaning of the sanitary and sewer mains. These systems are mounted on a truck that will be parked in the loop and on Erindale Avenue. This method of removing debris and residue is efficient and quick. While the vacuum truck unit is equipped with two noise suppressors, noise is evident when it is in full operation.
The truck required to carry out the cleaning and excavation work is large, consequently reducing the space for buses to easily manoeuvre past. To avoid scheduling this work overnight, we have scheduled this work for a Saturday when fewer buses are scheduled to operate into Broadview Station than on weekdays.
Traffic on Erindale Avenue will be maintained during the inspection.
The TTC regrets any inconvenience that may be caused from this activity.
