Community Bus Pilot Brings Enhanced Service

Starting September 5, 2017 the 404 East York Community Bus will operate more frequently and stop at additional destinations as part of the TTC’s nine-month Community Bus pilot.

The purpose of the Pilot is to test whether service enhancements will increase ridership. As part of the Pilot, the 404 East York route will be extended to include Coxwell Subway Station, No Frills, Fresh Co. and The Beaches along parts of Queen Street East. In addition, the bus will now operate hourly during the week, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. With these improvements, residents will have more accessible and convenient options to get around the neighbourhood.

Not familiar with Community Bus? It is a bus service that connects customers to a variety of popular destinations along a unique neighbourhood route and can be flagged down at any point in between bus stops. It stops at the front-door of various buildings and landmarks, including local shops, groceries, community centres, health care facilities and seniors’ residences. While Community Bus uses the same types of vehicles that Wheel-Trans customers are used to, anyone can ride the bus with their TTC fare.

The Community Bus Pilot will run until June 2018. For maps, schedules and more information, visit www.ttc.ca/communitybus.
