The Toronto East General Hospital and The Scarborough Hospital have been exploring a possible merger.

A public meeting is being held by the Friends of Toronto East General Hospital on Wednesday, February 29th starting at 7 pm at the East York Civic Centre.
The Friends of Scarborough Hospital organized a local community meeting about this matter. There were many concerns raised – not the least of which was the many problems arising out of the merger of Scarborough General and Scarborough Grace.
A doctor from Scarborough Hospital reported that 89% of the medical staff at Scarborough Hospital and 96% of the medical staff at Toronto East General are opposed to this merger.
ISSUE UPDATE: Toronto East General Hospital’s board, has announced, it is ending merger discussions with The Scarborough Hospital.
